The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) activists were among another 10 leaders who were questioned by police today over last Saturday's #Lawan protest in Kuala Lumpur, which demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
All in the group were questioned for more than two hours at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters.
Muda pro-tem secretary-general Amir Abd Hadi, who was among those questioned, said they gave their full cooperation to the police.
"Everything went smoothly, but the police are expected to call in more people. We were shown many photographs of people who may also be called by police," he said.
Yesterday, police also questioned 11 participants and activists involved in the protest.
They were investigated under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 and the Infectious Diseases Prevention and Control Regulations (Measures in Local Areas of Infection) (National Rehabilitation Plan) 2021.
Amir repeated last Saturday's protest demand for Muhyiddin to resign.
"He has not only failed in managing the Covid-19 pandemic but also the economy," he said.Muda pro-tem secretary-general Amir Abd Hadi
He noted the spiralling number of Covid-19 cases, rising deaths and suicides and shuttered businesses.
Also brought in for questioning today was PKR vice president Tian Chua.
Tian Chua said he was not involved in organising the protest but had turned up to show support to the youths involved in the demonstration.
"They faced the risk of being arrested and also risked exposure to the pandemic because they are concerned for the future of the country.
"That was why I went to show my support. When all official channels are closed... when there is no forum to voice out about the country's problems, then the only place left is the streets," he said.
Others to be questioned include Muda pro-tem vice-president Dr Thanussha Francis Xavier and Muda pro-tem central executive committee members Dr Teo Lee Ken and Dr Mathen Nair, as well as PSM's Sharan Raj.
