Datuk Kamal Khalid will join Celcom Axiata Bhd as its chief corporate and transformation officer on Feb 1. KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Kamal Khalid will join Celcom Axiata Bhd as its chief corporate and transformation officer on Feb 1 as part of the telecommunication company's key senior management appointments. In a statement issued on Tuesday, it said this was in line with its strategy to strengthen the company’s growth in managing and accelerating the telco’s transformation into the most inspiring digital organisation. Kamal will provide leadership to the various corporate functions including legal, regulatory, societal development, sustainability, enterprise data governance and program management. He brings with him over 25 years of experience and he previously served as group managing director of Media Prima Bhd until March 31,2020. Prior to joining Media Prima in 2009, he was head of Communications for the Prime Minister. Kamal began his career in Bumiputra Merchant Bankers and then worked in various companies involved in technology and venture financing before joining the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (now Bursa Malaysia) in July 1998. Celcom also pointed out that last year, it strengthened its management team with new appointments for its technology and commercial divisions. This saw Afizulazha Abdullah's (pic, above) appointment as Celcom’s chief operating officer (technology). He was previously the managing director of On-Site Services Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of edotco Malaysia that focuses on delivering network managed services. Allan Bonke(pic, above) was appointed as Celcom’s chief commercial officer to lead all revenue generating units with focus on strengthening our value proposition and competitiveness in the market. Pravind Menon (pic, below) was appointed as head of risk and compliance on Jan 4 this year. He has over 20 years of experience in legal, ethics and compliance across various industries in Asia Pacific covering pharmaceutical, energy and fast-moving consumer goods industries. Commenting on the key appointments, Celcom Axiata CEO Idham Nawawi, said the announcement reflects Celcom’s continuous determination to bring the best talent locally and internationally, driving towards becoming a high-performing digital company.
