Seremban MP Anthony Loke emerged with the highest number of votes in the Negeri Sembilan DAP election, garnering 501 votes from the delegates.
Nilai assemblyperson J Arul Kumar received the second-highest number of votes at 465. Lee Kai Yet also made the cut into the top 15 with 255 votes.
Under the DAP election system, the 15 candidates with the most number of votes will comprise the new leadership which will then elect among themselves to fill the various positions.
Loke (above) retained his position as the Negeri Sembilan DAP chief. The new line-up largely maintained the status quo.
Also present at the opening of the Negeri Sembilan DAP convention today was Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun, who is also the state PKR chief.Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun
Speaking to journalists about planning for the 15th general election, Aminuddin said seat negotiations were largely resolved.
He said the outstanding issues are between PKR and Amanah, particularly on seats previously contested by Bersatu when it was part of Pakatan Harapan.
"DAP is good, they didn't ask for those seats," he quipped.
Loke said DAP contested two parliamentary seats and 11 state assembly seats in Negeri Sembilan during the last general election and won all of them.
He added that the consensus was for the incumbent parties to contest the same seats they have won.
"I am confident there won't be any issues in Negeri Sembilan. We give our full support to the menteri besar to lead," he said.
Loke said he hoped Harapan can retain the 20 state seats it won in Negeri Sembilan in the last general election.
"We hope we can also increase the numbers," he added.
